Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS)
When you are applying for Social Security Disability Insurance or SSI benefits due to your fibromyalgia, your medical records are critical to your success. They tell the story of your diagnosis and the severity of your condition.
A diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made in a physical exam where the doctor applies light pressure to the surface of your muscles. If your doctor finds that you experience pain at enough points — especially at certain points around the neck, shoulders, chest, hips, knees and elbows — you may be diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
CFS is characterized by fatigue that lasts six months or more. When you are so tired that you cannot work, go to school, or participate in social and personal activities, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability benefits. The Social Security Administration has certain requirements that a person must meet in order for a person to be found disabled by chronic fatigue syndrome:
- Swollen or tender lymph nodes
- Muscle pain, tenderness or weakness
- Multijoint pain without swelling
- Unrefreshing sleep
I can walk you through these requirements, helping you to understand your options. As a lawyer at a small law firm, I am able to work closely with my clients. I get to know them, talking personally with them to answer their questions and help them achieve the best possible results.
